About Pontefract & Castleford

Pontefract is famous for its liquorice, which has been grown and processed in the town since the 17th century. The town hosts an annual liquorice festival every July, where visitors can enjoy various liquorice products and activities. Pontefract also has a medieval castle, which was once a royal residence and a site of several sieges during the English Civil War. The castle is now a museum and a tourist attraction and also has great events each year such as The Proms At The Castle & Yonder At The Castle. Pontefract Town Centre has seen a resurgence recently with local bars and eateries (One of my favourites being The Last Bank on Ropergate).

Castleford is the birthplace of the sculptor Henry Moore, who is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. His works can be seen in many public places around the world, such as the United Nations Headquarters in New York and the Tate Gallery in London. Castleford is also known for its rugby league team, the Castleford Tigers, who play in the Super League. The Tigers have won four Challenge Cups and one League Championship. Castleford Tigers fans are some of the most passionate and dedicated fans in Rugby. Castleford is popular to buyers due to it’s transport links via M62 and Xscape Yorkshire & Junction 32 Shopping center.
